Notes for Mac Users
Internet Explorer 5.x for Mac OS 9 or OS X does not work
with the Library proxy server. To correct this install a current
Netscape browser. Follow the directions below to configure
the Netscape browser:
- Mac users must install a independent Netscape
browser.
Click here to examples of denials due to unconfigured
browsers: denials
- Download into an icon on your desktop
Netscape 7.10 Clicking on the Netscape links will
open a new window. To come back to this window click on
the x in the upper right of that window and the rest of
the instructions.
- Minimize your screen, then install Netscape Navigator
by clicking on the file/icon you just downloaded. Do NOT
make it your preferred browser if asked. Then start up
Netscape Navigator and configure it as shown here.
- Netscape Version 7.10
- Highlight and copy this address > http://132.194.32.30:8080/proxy.pac
- Select Edit on the top menu
- Select Preferences
Note: While you are in preferences
you may want to change the browser home page location to Auraria
Library (http://library.auraria.edu) for ease of use. Then
each time you open Netscape you'll be at the Library home
page.
- Click on the triangle at the left of the word Advanced
near the bottom of the category list (left column)
- Click on the word Proxies that appears
- Click on the Automatic Proxy Configuration button
- Paste the address from above in Configuration Location
(URL): box: http://132.194.32.30:8080/proxy.pac
- Click on Reload and then click OK in the
box.
- Each time you want to use your Auraria Library
databases you will need to first logon normally, then minimize
that screen and click on the icon you've just created for
Netscape. Then just click on any of the links to the databases
anywhere in the Library website.
- If you get the same kind of denials as before your
browser is not correctly configured ... yet. Contact
the Reference Desk (303-556-2585) or the Distance
Librarian (303-556-2791) and we'll help you get set
up for using the databases from off campus.
