Information comes at us from many sources, and can be overwhelming. To be "information literate" we need to know why, when and how to use each of the available tools and to take the time to think critically about the information they provide. We all realize no one becomes information literate overnight. As with speaking or writing skills, our abilities improve over time as we gain expertise in our chosen topics, and as we practice searching for, selecting, and evaluating the information and ideas.
