Do I need a Library card?

If you are a CCD, MSCD, or UCD student, faculty, or staff, or AHEC staff, your campus ID card entitles you to generous borrowing privileges. If not, a Colorado picture ID such as a Colorado ID, driver's license, or other college student ID card, entitles you to limited borrowing privileges.

What are your policies on check outs, renewals, fines, etc?

Patrons from Auraria or any University of Colorado system campus are granted full borrowing privileges when they present a current picture ID from their institution. Patrons may check out up to 75 items at one time with the following loan periods:

28 days for undergraduate students
60 days for graduate students
90 days for faculty/staff

Patrons may renew up to 3 times by phone, online or in person, items not requested by another borrower.

Fines on overdue items are 50 cents per day per item. Maximum fine for items over 28 days overdue is $20.00 per item. An item is considered lost if it is 28 days overdue. Auraria Library lost book charges are a standard $125.00 or more per item to cover replacement and processing.

If I am not a current student, can I checkout books and use the library?

Non-Auraria users with a Colorado picture ID can use the library and check out up to 6 items for a 21 day checkout period with one renewal.

Where are meetings held in the Library?

The Library has two group study rooms on the second floor, Rooms 205 and 206. There are also two conference rooms in the library that some campus affiliated committees may use. Room 130 is in the Periodicals Room and Room 256 is on the second floor south of the Administration offices. Reservations can be made for the rooms in the Administration offices. The Media Center, located on the back side of the Library, across from the Science Building, also hosts meetings.

Can patrons put a book on hold and pick it up the next day?

Library staff is not able to pull research materials for our patrons from our shelves.
You will need to come in person. Holds can only be placed on checked out materials.
