Interlibrary Loan FAQ

Help! I forgot my username and password!

Call the ILL office at 303-556-8198 to obtain your username and/or password. ILL staff cannot tell you your secure password, but they can reset it to a temporary password to allow you to access your ILL account. Once you are in, you can reset your password to whatever you wish with the Change Password Button. You may want to make use of the password hint.

What are the hours for the ILL office?

Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

How long are the loan periods?

Loan periods are set by lending libraries and may vary. Some formats such as DVDs, videos, CDs, microfilm, bound journals, and old or rare books may have shorter loan periods or only be available for use in the library.

How do I renew?

Interlibrary Loan materials are not generally renewable, and any renewal options are determined by the lending library. You may request renewal of books through your ILL account. Renewal requests must be made at least 2 days prior to the due date. Late requests will not be considered.

How soon will my requests arrive?

Many articles arrive within 1-2 days of being requested excluding weekends and holidays. More obscure journals may take 5-10 days to arrive. Books typically take 4-5 days to arrive if available in state and 2-3 weeks if available out of state. Try the Prospector service first for materials other than articles.  The Prospector catalog is a combined group of 25 local Colorado libraries and items requested generally arrive within 2-3 working days.

How will I know my request has arrived?

ILL will send you an email to let you know that your Interlibrary Loan materials have arrived and are ready for pickup at the Circulation Desk. Articles will be available through your ILL account. Click on View/Download electronically received articles. Articles are accessible to you for only 14 days from the date of posting. Be sure to download them to your personal files or computer during that time.

Who can use Interlibrary Loan?

Only Auraria students, faculty, and staff may use ILL. Public patrons and students from other universities should utilize their local libraries' ILL services. Auraria out-of-state students may use ILL for articles and other electronically-deliverable items. For books or other tangible items Auraria out-of-state students should utilize their local libraries' ILL services.

What do I do if I can't use Auraria Library Interlibrary Loan or Prospector?

See our world-wide libraries page for tools to search for a library near you. In the U.S., chances are they offer ILL services and lots more! Contact them. If you would like to find a library that has a specific book try WorldCat.org. It's a great tool.
