Basics of America's News

America's News is a database of newspaper articles from across the United States. Papers from large (such as New York) and medium (such as Fort Collins) cities are included. All articles are full-text. Most papers are available on the day they are published.

  1. Go to Auraria Library's home page: http://library.auraria.edu.
  2. Click on Databases A-Z, on the left side of the page.
  3. Click on America's News, in the upper left.
  4. If you are off campus, you will get a pop-up box asking you to log in. Enter your name and ID number exactly as they appear on your student ID card.
  5. On the left side of the screen, choose Colorado or United States. If you choose United States, you can select specific states or regions below the U.S. map at right.
  6. Enter keywords related to your topic.
  7. Enter publication dates (this is optional).
  8. You will get a list of articles with your keywords and dates. If you need a certain type of material (such as academic journal articles), click on the link for that type of material.
  9. Remember you can always ask a librarian for help!
