Overview
The shelving student is responsible for a variety of shelving related jobs such as shelving books, shelf-reading, and shifting. The employee must be detail oriented and dedicated to ensuring that library patrons are able to access the print materials they need. The ideal candidate is reliable, self-motivated, and able to prioritize.

Job Duties
- Shelving print materials
- Shelf-reading books
- Assisting with shifting and collection maintenance projects
Physical demands of the position
Bending, lifting, pushing fully loaded book carts, using library step stools, and frequently handling library materials up to 30 lbs.
Other
- Other duties as assigned.
Schedule: Up to 10 hours a week, between 8am – 3:30pm Monday - Friday.
Compensation: $18.81 per hour.

Minimum Qualifications
- Enrolled in at least three credit hours at a higher education institution.
- Must apply for a work-study award once offered and accepted position.
- Work-Study Students: Undergraduate work-study students MUST be enrolled for at least 6 credit hours throughout a semester, including summer semesters.
- Graduate work-study students: MUST be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours throughout a semester, including summer semesters (except in the case of students completing their thesis and/or dissertation credit during a single summer semester).
- If a student does not receive a work-study award after applying, the department may still hire them.
