You can use databases to easily find organized collections of articles, journals, news, streaming videos, primary sources, data, and more!
This month, we highlight one of the most used databases in Women, Gender, and Queer Studies: LGBTQ+ Source.
What’s in it?
LGBTQ+ Source is a database of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer scholarly and popular publications. It includes 122 full-text journals and magazines, as well as primary sources like monographs, newspapers, magazines, and videos of first-person narrations from people in the community.
Why should you use it?
This database strives to be as inclusive as possible with its content and perspectives. It also includes an LGBTQ+ thesaurus with about 9,500 terms to help you begin your search.
Who should use it?
Anyone and everyone who is interested in the past and present lives, joys, and struggles of folks in the LGBTQ+ community.
Why use a database?
When you use a specific database instead of a general search engine or discovery tool, you can often find more relevant sources. Subject-specific databases provide focused content, so you don’t have to sift through thousands of unrelated results.
