Prospector

Prospector is a partnership between libraries in Colorado and Wyoming. Through Prospector you can choose from over 30 million books, DVDs, CDs, videos and other materials held in these libraries and have them delivered to you at your home library.

Interlibrary Loan

If you are an Auraria campus user looking for an item that is not available at Auraria or through Prospector, you can request materials from other libraries through Interlibrary Loan.  The loan period and renewal options are determined by the lending library. Articles are electronically accessed from the your ILLiad account. Other materials are picked up from the Ask Us Desk. Renewals are at the discretion of the lending library, so results will vary; however, all renewal requests should be made at least two working days before the item is due to allow the lending library time to process the renewal request. 

Reference

Reference materials are for use in the library only. Reference materials (excludes materials at the Ask Us Desk) may be checked out only to Auraria campus faculty for a 4-hour or overnight period.

Periodicals

Magazines and journals are for use in the library only. Current and bound issues of periodicals can be checked out only by Auraria Campus faculty for a 24-hour time period. To check out a periodical, please obtain a request form from the Ask Us Desk.

Reserves

Reserves provide convenient access to required reading materials selected by faculty. Reserves may include online articles, books, audio and videotapes, and other items required for class assignments. Reserve items are available for short-term loans (usually two hours) in order to ensure availability for many users.

Videos

Students may borrow most DVDs for 7 days. Some DVDs (those held behind the Ask Us Desk) may be used only for 4 hours within the library.

Faculty may book videos and DVDs in advance for classroom viewing. We recommend booking at least a week in advance to confirm availability. Make a video booking request through this Video Booking Request Form.

Anatomical Models (and other resources)

You can find a variety of items to support your course work at the Ask Us Desk, such as anatomical models, skeletons, graphing calculators, graphics tablets, and laptop computers. The loan period on these items varies from two hours to a few days. These items are only available to current Auraria Campus students, faculty, and staff.

Confidentiality of Library Records

Library circulation records and other records and databases identifying the names of library users are strictly confidential under State Law: Colorado Statute 24-90-119 Privacy of User Records. Such records will not be made available except pursuant to legal process, order or subpoena through the University Librarian/Library Director.

  • Visit the Ask Us Desk
    The Ask Us Service Desk is located on the first floor of the Library and provides in-person help by answering questions about the Library, Campus, or three Institutions. This service also loans anatomical items, technology items (such as phone charges and calculators), plus course reserves, or textbooks, for some classes. Please visit the Safe Return page for information about when this service will be available.

  • Research Consultations
    Research consultations are for in-depth and lengthy discussions about research questions. Please use Schedule a Research Consultation Form to request an appointment. We can help you out via Zoom or over the phone. Due to the level of preparation needed, appointments should be made 48 hours in advance. If you need immediate help, please use our 24/7 chat service.
