Native Colorado stones have been installed to transect the Library, anchoring the building to the Colorado landscape. The stones feature relief carvings of native Coloradan plants.
Andy Dufford, the Lead Artist at Chevo Studios was chosen to create and install public art as part of the Auraria Library renovation project. 1% of the $27M state funded portion of the Auraria Library renovation project budget was allocated to the acquisition of public art. The design submitted by Chevo Studios is a play on the metaphor of a seed of thought and wisdom that originates in the Library, and moves out into the world. Native Colorado stones will transect the Library - “pinning” the building in to the Colorado landscape. The stones will feature relief carvings of native Coloradan plants.
