Researcher Support Services

Auraria Library recently acquired complete access to JoVE which is basically a peer-reviewed library of videos demonstrating how to do many kinds of scientific procedures from physics and biology to psychology, neuroscience and environmental sampling.  Check it out for your area of interest.

JoVE has two parts.  The Journal of Visualized Experiments has video articles describing very specific procedures used by the authors on actual research projects.  These videos have peer-reviewed scripts and help demonstrate the nuances of how the data is obtained.  The Science Education Database consists of longer videos specifically produced by JoVE as teaching aids and lab supplements. The Science Education Database covers a wide range of topics as well and is very useful for prepping students in new procedures.

It is also exciting that JoVE represents a different type of publishing opportunity.  Several faculties (primarily from the UCD Anschutz Campus) have published in JoVE.

Subjects covered include biology, neurosciences, medicine, bioengineering, engineering, genetics, cancer research, immunology and infection, chemistry, behavior, environment, developmental biology, biochemistry, psychology, and clinical skills.  JoVE journal articles are accessible through PubMed Central.
