The Auraria Library provides and will continue to provide access to over 100,000 videos for teaching, research, and learning. You can search all library videos through Start My Research on the Library home page, limiting the search to Media Only. These streaming videos are available because the Library has purchased single videos, and subscribes to several robust streaming video subscription services including Films on Demand, Academic Videos Online (AVON), DocuSeek2, Counseling and Therapy in Video, Psychotherapy.net, and Kanopy.

Our contract with Kanopy has been different from those with other suppliers. Under the contract each Kanopy title was free to Auraria campus users until the fourth view at which point Auraria Library automatically leased the title for $150 for one year. In this model Library costs are unpredictable except in one respect: costs have multiplied every year since we first subscribed under this model in 2015. The dramatically escalated cost for Kanopy under this model has become unsustainable.

Therefore beginning January 7th, the Library will have a new per-title leasing model for new Kanopy titles. Under the new model when you find a needed video through the Kanopy collection, that is not not already owned or leased, a short request form will appear for you to fill out and submit.  A collection development librarian will review the request and approved videos will typically be available in two business days.

This simple change will allow the Library to keep within our budget. Faculty and staff can also contact their collection development librarian directly with any video requests or questions.
