A Guided Tour to Our Homegrown Research Guides
The Auraria Library has nearly 100 Research Guides: curated by our own librarians to highlight the tools and resources that we provide, and to serve the specific scholarly needs of MSU Denver, CU Denver, and the Community College of Denver.
They include subject-specific guides on dozens of academic disciplines, as well as cross-cutting guides that help users in all majors accomplish fundamental and common research.
New this semester: We’ve just refreshed a large portion of our Research Guides for the first time in a decade, increasing their accessibility—they now are readable by screen-readers to aid those visually impaired—and updating their content.
Of course, we’re especially fond of some of them. Here, Kodi Saylor—our Instructional Program Lead Librarian, who oversees these research guides, tells us about six of her favorites.
- Citation Styles: Kodi: “Creating and formatting citations is something we all have to do, and the citation guide walks you through the major citation styles, providing tips and tricks to help you finish your reference list.”
- Brewing Industry: Kodi: “A nod to our city and campus’s role in the brewing industry, this guide supports folks studying brewing operations and beverage management.”
- Psychology and Counseling: Kodi: “This useful guide provides support not only for finding resources on psychology topics but also teaches you how to look for psychological tests, surveys, and measures for conducting your own research studies.”
- Poster Design: “This guide walks you through the basics of designing a research poster, explaining what to put on a poster, and how to arrange it for optimal presentation.”
- Data and Statistics: “We all want data; this guide will walk through what it is and how to find it.
- Art & Art History: “Art books live in the Art & Art History guide, as well as resources for high quality digital images through Auraria Library’s databases.”
