Renovation Highlights
- Community Zone
New staff office and processing areas were constructed in the back of the Library transforming space in the center of the Library for student learning spaces. A cafe was added. The Community Zone features booth furniture, laptop chairs, lounge chairs, cafe tables, benches, and open views of campus
- Group Study Rooms, First Floor
Six Group Study Rooms opened to those wishing to collaborate. Located is the southeast corner of the First Floor. Group Study Rooms feature new chairs, tables, computers and/or large LCD screens, whiteboards, electrical outlets, wireless access, and the ability to reserve the rooms
- Confluence Café
The Confluence Café offers a menu focused on good taste and good health. Confluence Café features coffee, fruit smoothies, burritos, muffins, and snacks http://library.auraria.edu/info/cafe
- Restrooms, First Floor
The First Floor restrooms were completely gutted and redesigned. These Restrooms feature more space and easier accessibility
- King Faculty Room
The King Faculty Room is a refuge for Auraria Campus Faculty to collaborate, work and reflect. It was created through a generous donation from the Kenneth King Foundation. The King Faculty Room features comfortable furniture, computers, and a telephone for faculty use
- Maps and Microforms
Maps and Microforms were moved to the Second Floor. The move of the Maps and Microforms helped open up the First Floor into a collaborative space
Renovation Process Highlights
- Architectural Workshop Contract
Contracted with Architectural Workshop, a Denver architectural firm, to design group study rooms, staff spaces, café space, and expanded first floor restrooms. Worked with a local design firm to add colorful, comfortable furniture to the newly opened café area and community zone
- Conducted Landscape Architecture Charette with Lori Catalano
- Conducted Library As Lab | Client with Lori Catalanao's Landscape Architecture Class
