Renovation Highlights

  • Renovation Background and Floorplans
    Transforming Auraria Library [PDF]

  • Holistic Design
Auraria Library Renovation Team worked with studiotrope Design Collective to develop a holistic design for the entire Library and future phases of renovation. The goal is to create spaces that enrich the quality of the environment and the lives of those who use the Library

  • Restrooms, Second Floor
The Second Floor Restrooms were completely gutted and redesigned. New Second Floor Restrooms feature more space and accessibility

  • Group Study Rooms, Second Floor
Six new Group Study Rooms were created on the Second Floor. The rooms feature: glass walls, chairs, tables, large LCD screens, whiteboards, and wireless access. These rooms may be reserved in the online booking system

  • Ask Us Desk and Service Point Area
Better known as the place where you check in and check out books – the new Ask Us Desk and Service Point Area were redesigned with future enhancements in mind. This area features: the first level of research help, directional and other informational questions answered, self-service check out and check in, and digital signage. It was designed purposefully with an additional, future entrance on the Lawrence Street side of the building in mind

  • Special Collections
The new Special Collections features: a Reading Room, new chairs and tables, preparation for a rare book collection and a controlled environment for collections

  • Current Periodicals and Newspapers
    - The "Library Living Room" located near the North Courtyard. It is a calm, comfortable place with Current Periodicals and Newspapers on new shelving. This space features comfortable seating, coffee tables with electrical outlets, new carpet, and a painted ceiling

  • Research Zone
The Reference Collection is located on new, lower shelving in this area on the first floor. This zone is located adjacent to the Librarian’s offices and has additional research consultation space. The space features: 12 new 27" Macs with specialized software, new furniture, ADA compliant computers/software, new carpet and a painted ceiling
